This is an unusual post, but I’m hoping the right person sees it.
I’m a Master of Social Work (MSW) currently working in Child Protective Services in North Carolina. I’ve spent years managing highly complex cases, navigating crises, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, interviewing individuals from all walks of life, documenting extensively, meeting strict deadlines, analyzing risk, solving problems, and balancing competing priorities.
Lately, I’ve come to realize that many of the skills I’ve developed are highly transferable beyond traditional social work. What I don’t have is someone to help me bridge the gap.
I’m interested in learning project management, program management, operations, process improvement, implementation, organizational strategy, or other adjacent fields. I know enough to recognize that these areas align with many of my strengths, but I don’t yet know enough to confidently make the leap.
What I do bring:

* Documentation, compliance, and regulatory experience
* Stakeholder management and conflict resolution

* Strong organizational skills
* Curiosity and willingness to learn
People often assume social workers only provide counseling. In reality, much of my job resembles project coordination, case management, program implementation, documentation, compliance monitoring, and cross-functional communication.
I learn quickly. I ask questions. I genuinely enjoy understanding how systems work and how they can be improved.
What I’m looking for:

* Advice on certifications, career paths, and realistic next steps
* Opportunities to shadow, volunteer, assist with projects, or gain experience
* Potential job opportunities if my skills could be useful
I’m not asking for charity. I’m asking for a chance.
I’m currently at a pivotal point in my life. I’ve recently become a mother, and I’m thinking carefully about my long-term career trajectory. I want to continue helping people, but I’m also looking for a path that offers greater financial growth, flexibility, working from home, and professional development.
