DO NOT CALL TILL YOU READ IT ALL (PLEASE)

Wife's car got totaled by a drunk driver. She needed a vehicle fast. It was tax season (You know.. when every young household with kids gets those huge checks), so all the family vehicles were sold. After weeks of searching, I bought her this 1998 Honda CR-V (with like 253k miles) to ''get her by''. She had a lot nicer vehicle before the wreck, and she was having no part of it. I tried to convince her, but it wasn't happening. So when I found a deal, I bought her a nicer 2011 vehicle. This CR-V was rated as one of the most reliable SUVs on the planet. Its a Honda afterall.
WHAT I DID:
It sat for a year so i cleaned all the nests out of the hatch spare wheel, all the pine needles and leaves from the trunk and hood (took hours), washed it religiously (right now its covered in pollen but with a rinse it will look like new!) and I replaced the window motor, and added a new window switch. (I purchased extra door handles and switches as well while I was at it.) I replaced the valve cover gasket, the spark plug seals, the other hose on the valve cover gasket, the spark plugs ($60 by themselves!), the plug wires ($$$), the rotor button and distributor cap / ignition. I drained the differential fluid and refilled with original Honda fluid (I have another quart and 3/4ths you can have for $20 more). I replaced the differential dampener bushing. All of this made it turn smoother. I cleaned the door panels and some of the trim (still needs a good vacuuming) I replaced the rear quarter window which was cracked but still intact. I replaced the thermostat sensor (one was included but it was the wrong one, so you can have it as well, new in box). I did all that in like 3 days. These are easy to work on!

The harmonic balancer went out, and I towed it to a garage, and mechanic spotted some issues with the tie end rods etc. He quoted me a price and I denied, and I towed it home. Realizing the wife simply wasnt gonna be happy with it anyways, i stopped there. So it has some steering related issues (thats all I know) and needs a harmonic balancer. While your doing that I recommend you replace the belts. Literally it still has my 10 day tag. I removed the insurance and I keep the tag. It has a new battery, and will crank right up. I can move it but I wont move it more than 10 feet forward or backwards because it needs a harmonic!) DO NOT ROLL DOWN THE PASSENGER WINDOW!!! It wont go back up. I can tell you how to fix it because I know exactly whats wrong there. Its a cheap fix that takes an hour or less. I also have the name and number of a guy who has parts for REALLY cheap if you buy it.

MORE GOOD:
It also has power windows and power door locks, it has roof racks, and it has that legendary Real Time 4WD. The engine is strong and she runs like a scalded dog. The tranny is PERFECT and shifts perfect every single time. Its black (I think the other colors suck.. thats just me). It has a CD player and stereo that we never tested. Body in in excellent condition with no rust anywhere that i can find, and theres one tiny dent in the hood that I didnt see till like the 4th day. It has newer headlights that are CLEAR and shiny!
It will have to be towed because it needs the harmonic balancer fixed. Tow cost me $100, but thats on you. I have a clean title in hand, and its never been in a flood or damaged/salvaged. At $1500 Im breaking even. Hate to see it parted out so Im selling it AS IS WHERE IS. Replace the harmonic balancer and its driveable but I highly recommend you have the steering parts checked. Im no mechanic.

Oh.. One more thing. I have $1500 invested. Thats the price. Nothing less. I also have some more stuff that i bought for it if you're interested. New floor mats, etc.. Ask about those when you're here. They will be additional but at my cost. I really love this little thing. I hate she didn't. Theres youtube-videos showing people rock climbing and mudding in these, and most of the videos say they like the 1st gen (97-01) best. They say it had the best 4WD.
