Excellent condition. No damage, repairs, or imperfections whatsoever. It has always been kept safe and secure under a glass dome, and has been in the same family for well over 100 years. Runs perfectly. Very accurate. Both keys are included. A very unique and stunning piece indeed!
French, mid 19th century, gilt bronze and alabaster under a glass dome with an ebonized base.
Depicting a standing armor-clad figure, the circular white-enamel dial surmounted by accoutrements of war, on an alabaster base with ormolu, metal and chains. 15 inches tall, 12 inches wide. The base and dome are also in excellent condition with no cracks or damage.
Eight-day single train timepiece movement, back plate stamped 4054/48. Examined and cleaned professionally about 15 years ago. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, slow/fast adjustment above the numeral 12, the case cast with a medieval knight standing by the fluted drum-shape case and attributes, the frieze applied with boar’s head oak leaf and chain swags, on toupee front feet; plinth and glass dome. Date: circa 1860.
This is a one-of-a-kind antique treasure. I have never seen another like it in all my research. It would look great sitting once again in all its glory on someone's mantel or in the home.
