This matching Avocado Green fridge and range were manufactured by General Electric in the 1970s. Our family has enjoyed these adorable appliances for the past 10 years. Recently, both units have fallen into disrepair. This post is for someone that is interested in refurbishing these appliances.
The range has a working stove top and oven, but the thermostat needs to be replaced in order to properly control the oven temperature.
The fridge seems to have an electrical issue that we have not been able to diagnose yet. It started causing the outlet/breaker to trip all of a sudden one day.
Background stories about these specific units:
The fridge was a craigslist find! The woman that sold it to us said that her mother was the original owner. This fridge was adored so much that, on her death bed, her mother said to never to unplug that fridge! Weird, I know. But that was the story we got.
The range came from a local thrift store. The original owner taped a handwritten note to the front, saying how much they loved this stove, that they were sad to give it away, but were finally updating their kitchen.
We would love to pass these appliances on to someone that can repair and keep this slice of history alive another decade (or more)!
